The Magician's Last Show

Last night in front of the crowd
My bag of tricks just ran out
I could have foretold this fate
Someday at any rate

Like most of you I had a plan
To be the best I can
But they aren't interested
If you don't market to the kids

Under my hat it's bare
No rabbit and no hair
There's nothing up my little sleeve
But I know just how I'll take my leave

Like them I had inborn sense
Of meaningful irrelevance
I never needed bright lights
But they will notice tonight

I'll show them
I'll give them a show
I'll show them things they've never seen
I'll show them

Come and see my final stand
There will be no sleight of hand
When I slice my eyes apart
And drive two swords right through my heart
Unmask my bones
I'll die but not alone
I'll light my skin on fire
So that my work can be admired
And as blood flows onstage
They'll want to turn away

But I'll show them
I'll give them a show
I'll show them things they've never dreamed
I'll show them

And when my body's cold
That's when my story will be told
I hope your spirit's strong
If not the shows goes on

You'll show them
You'll give them a show
You'll show them things they want to see
You'll show them

We'll show them
